Dentist, researcher, and your neighbour in DHA

I'm Dr Marina Shah, and I believe dentistry should be honest, gentle and grounded in science. After completing my BDS and FCPS (R) training at Dow University of Health Sciences — one of Pakistan's most respected dental institutions — I opened my clinic in DHA Karachi with a simple mission: give patients the same standard of care I would want for my own family.

Operative dentistry is the specialty behind the treatments patients need most: tooth-coloured fillings, root canals, crowns and smile restorations. My research background means I stay current with the evidence — and I bring that rigour into every treatment plan.

• CBCT study of C-shaped root canal morphology — Pakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, 2023. A cone-beam CT investigation of complex root canal anatomy, directly informing safer, more precise root canal treatments.
• Dentin hypersensitivity paper — Journal of the Pakistan Medical Association (JPMA). Clinical research on tooth sensitivity causes and management.

This research is why our clinic takes on complex root canals and sensitivity cases other clinics refer away — it's literally what I've studied.

My treatment philosophy

1. Diagnose first, treat second. No treatment without a clear diagnosis you understand.
2. Save the natural tooth whenever possible. Extraction is a last resort, not a first option.
